With the summer holidays fast approaching, this is surely the time of year you’ve been looking forward to, when you can relax and recharge your batteries with family or friends on a holiday in the mountains.

Here at ESF Méribel, we highly recommend giving hiking a go – if you haven’t already – so you can enjoy the benefits this sport brings to both your mental and physical health.

If you’re planning a stay in Méribel, we’d like to suggest three lesser-known hikes that will allow you to explore the resort’s most beautiful spots in summer.

Rediscover Méribel this summer on a hike to the Refuge du Christ

Your holiday in Méribel this summer will be the perfect opportunity to enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities, such as hiking.

At the ESF, you’ll be able to book a guide who’ll accompany you on your hike to the Refuge du Christ, accessible via the old alpine paths.

Starting from Méribel Centre, this hiking route follows a loop, ending with a descent via Les Allues.

If you wish, you can choose to take a free shuttle bus for the return journey back to the resort of Méribel.

Enjoy the bird’s-eye view of the Méribel Valley from the Rocher de la Loze

In Méribel, a hike to the Rocher de la Loze is also a unique experience well worth the detour, particularly if you want to enjoy the breathtaking views over the Méribel Valley.

Your excursion will begin with a walk along the ridges to reach the summit of the Dent de Burgin, situated below the Croix de Verdon, which can also be reached via the Via Ferrata.

Once at the summit, you’ll have the pleasure of capturing this moment by photographing the view over the Méribel Valley.

This spot is iconic as it is also famous for being part of the Tour de France route over the Col de la Loze, which lies just below the Dent de Burgin.

Situated in the heart of the 3 Vallées, the resort of Méribel is the ideal place to visit this summer if you’d like to go hiking and breathe in the fresh, crisp mountain air.

If you’re a keen hiker, the ESF Méribel offers a variety of routes, including one leading to the Col du Vallon in the Tuèda Nature Reserve.

Once you reach your destination, your guide will teach you how to identify the different plant species that make up the park’s flora and fauna.

Aimed at experienced hikers, this hike is quite challenging. Although you can do it with friends without a guide, we still recommend opting for a guide, as they’ll ensure your safety and can teach you more about the history of the Col du Vallon.
