Since snowshoeing takes place on
snow-covered trails, you need to protect your feet from the cold and damp. So there are several options available, depending on your budget, your preferences and how often you go snowshoeing:
- Special snowshoe boots;
- Hiking boots designed for winter;
- Sturdy, padded snow boots .
Whichever you choose, the most important thing is to make sure your pair is
warm enough to protect you from the coldest temperatures, but also
waterproof, to keep out the water and keep you dry throughout your sessions.
You should also opt for
shoes that are
high or half-high to prevent snow from getting in, and that have
optimum grip so that you don't slip when you take off your snowshoes.
