What is freestyle skiing?

Skiing is a versatile sport that can be practised in many different ways, to the delight of skiers from all horizons. Born in the 60s, freestyle skiing is a broad branch of snow sports combining a sense of freedom, technique and creativity. The athletes involved in this activity link jumps, pirouettes and obstacle-laden trails to create an impressive visual spectacle.

Freestyle skiing also includes several sub-disciplines such as moguls, skicross, half-pipe and Big Air. These are all specialities that demonstrate the innovation that can come from skiing.

Closely related to its neighbour, freestyle skiing, freeride is another activity that pushes back the limits of traditional downhill skiing, as it involves riding the virgin slopes of the mountains. These activities, grouped together under the term "freeskiing", symbolise a true spirit of freedom and passion that the most adventurous skiers will appreciate discovering in the 3 Vallées area!
