Les P'tits Flambeaux in Méribel: introducing youngsters to the mountains

Published on 14/03/2025 - Written by Amélie
Although the mountains are a fabulous place to enjoy nature and discover new activities, many children are not lucky enough to be able to go there, prevented by medical, social and economic reasons.

That's why, last year, France Montagnes launched Les P'tits Flambeaux, a fund-raising campaign to help finance the holidays of 5,000 children. The second edition was held on 20 February!

Les P'tits Flambeaux, a national charity event

Les P'tits Flambeaux is an evening of simultaneous torchlight descents in over 150 French ski resorts. It is organised by the three main organisations that make up France Montagnes: Domaines Skiables de France (DSF), the Association Nationale des Maires des Stations de Montagne (ANMSM) and the Syndicat National des Moniteurs du Ski Français (SNMSF).

Open to all, the aim of the event is to collect donations that will help provide mountain holidays for children who are ill or from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Would you like to take part next year? You can buy a torch at one of the participating resorts, or make a donation to one of the charities supported. Ski instructors are invited to sign up for this exceptional torchlight descent.

Méribel supports associations

In 2025, Méribel renewed its participation in the P'tits Flambeaux, with the funds raised going to three associations renowned for their commitment to children:

  • The Génération Montagne fund, which promotes young people's access to the mountains through projects of general interest.
  • The Enfance et Montagne endowment fund, which supports the financing of snow and green classes in France.
  • The Petits Princes association, which enables seriously ill children and teenagers to make their dreams come true. In particular, it runs the "Famille Plus, la montagne solidaire" operation in conjunction with the ANMSM.

The money raised during the P'tits Flambeaux evening helps to fund various initiatives, including support for patients and their families through therapeutic mountain breaks, training in board sports adapted for people with disabilities, and improving access to skiing for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Like many other ski resorts, Méribel has shown its solidarity!

A magical show put on by the esf Méribel team

As night fell on Thursday 20 February, the slopes of Méribel were decked out in a thousand colours for a unique charity evening. The ski school instructors met up at La Chaudanne for a torchlit descent that was very different from the traditional show they put on throughout the season.

This national operation put on a magical show for all the families on site. Other surprises and entertainment concocted by the resort made the occasion even more unforgettable. Les P'tits Flambeaux was the perfect way to discover the mountain in a whole new light!
